This lightning effect is achieved with gobo filters and more than one gobo projector.
You can either make the pinecones from real ones that have been flocked with royal icing and sanding sugar or make your own chocolate pinecones following these instructions.

Am I the only one who thought the pinecones were spiders at first?
The gobo filter effect is amazing! Now I really want a winter-themed wedding.
I also thought that the pinecones were spiders as well. I am in love with the decorations and ideas! Too bad I am too gun ho against having a winter wedding-too cold where I live!

Quite beautiful! A heads-up to the winter brides out there: Don’t pick sleeveless gowns. I went sleeveless assuming that we’d have heat. We didn’t. After a half hour delay of the maintenence guys trying to get it working, we just went ahead with the (thankfully short) ceremony. It was the coldest day of that winter. I shivered the whole time at the altar! I love the idea of a snowflake theme, and if we had enough money for any sort of theme, this would have been perfect for us.
The projected show-flake lights are so pretty!!! It is amazing the difference they make to an otherwise simply decorated room.

Yep, spider pinecones….thought it, too. I think removing the evergreen (?) surrounding them or replacing them with shorter pieces would cut down on that. I actually think fuller pieces of branches (like the chunky bits that fall off your Christmas tree) would be more natural looking & prettier, perhaps with some berries where the branch meets the pinecone. To be truly fabulous, ‘diamonds’ or big rhinestone ‘berries’ instead, would be gorgeous! They’re sold in every color under the rainbow, too.
Also, sprinkling cakes or pops, cuppies-with a mix of chunky, edible silver, light blue & iridescent white/clear ‘glitter’ or sugar to make it look like they are dusted with snow, would add a beautiful, interesting visual effect. You could rim drink glasses with the same mix. Ok, now I want to have a White Wedding. Is that ok, despite being married for 12 years now?
Lastly, I think the light decor is pretty, but, IDK…something about it bugs me…maybe I think it’s ‘TOO’ much or doesn’t look elegant? Maybe some smaller effects in only white?
